A focus of Scottish history for centuries, the crowning place of Kings and the original home of the Stone of Destiny, Scone Palace gardens were cultivated by one of the world’s most famous plant hunters, David Douglas.
In the grounds today is a magnificent Douglas fir, raised from the original seed David Douglas sent back from America in 1827. Scone Palace Pinetum contains many spectacular conifers, including avenues of towering North American giants such as Wellingtonia, Sitka Spruce, Noble Fir and Western Hemlock which together form a dramatic and dominant designed landscape.
